Destiny has been showered with love and attention by her family and closest friends! This was the very first time that the bridal party got together (thanks COVID)! So everyone got a chance to eat, drink, and party while they talked about being a Gantz. Be sure to look out for the pictures!
Our Story
The Birds and The Bees
Where do we begin? Probably by giving a huge thanks to Bumble! Who would have thought we would find our forever person using a dating app?
For those who aren’t familiar with how Bumble works, here’s the 411. Unlike most dating apps/sites where the men get to “make the first move” and reach out initially, Bumble lets the women take initiative. A woman’s profile is able to be seen by men, and if they are interested they will swipe their phone screen in one direction to show interest or in the other direction to move on to the next person. At that point, it is up to fate, or “Destiny”. There is no notification for the woman to see that someone has liked you. In some cases (like ours) the man has already come across this particular woman’s profile, and swiped yes! That’s one way the woman instantly knows that this person has shown interest in them. Then, you are allowed to send a message to the guy. After the first message is sent by the woman, the man has 24 hours to respond. If there is no response within that time window, their profile will disappear…FOREVER!
Mind you, Destiny had no experience with dating apps. She actually had to google “How to use Bumble”. Thankfully, she got all the info she needed to find her perfect match. Harrison had used various dating apps up to this point. At least one of us knew what we were doing! He saw her profile beforehand, and he swiped for her instantly. The very moment Destiny saw his profile (now knowing how to actually use Bumble), she immediately swiped for him. She was taken by his incredibly handsome smile, perfect facial structure, and sense of humor through his profile. BOOM! It was an instant match. She messaged him right away. From there it just kept getting more and more surreal. It definitely felt like it was too good to be true. We had to meet! The idea of this actually being genuine was too exciting.
Going The Distance
Harrison was very skeptical that this would work out. However, the countless shared interests and aligned morals and values kept us chatting non-stop. It felt too good to be true! We had to meet each other to find out! We agreed it was time to officially meet one another. At this point, we realized the distance was over 90 miles between us. That’s quite a ways away to take a leap of faith for a first date.
Destiny had never met up with someone she didn’t know or even someone she met online, so she suggested meeting at the place she was working at the time. Little Woodrow’s Beaumont. A fun, interactive meeting place, flooded with people she knew would look out for her in the event she happened to meet up with some creeper. Harrison, being the gentleman he is, invited one of his friends to join him on this 90-mile journey (Kabir is a legend!). What a relief for her to hear! She invited one of her friends to join in on the fun.
Destiny made Harrison wait for over an hour if felt like years. He thought she wasn’t going to show so he and Kabir decided to make the best of things and mingle with the locals. Finally, Destiny showed up with Lauriann and she wasn’t a catfish! The girls taught the boys how to play washers and the boys preceded to whip them. We got a table and talked until daylight. Although Harrison and Kabir had to make a sleep-deprived trek back to Houston, Harrison was amped because he knew there was something special there. Plus he wouldn’t have been able to sleep anyway.
After that night we couldn’t get enough of each other. We would FaceTime every night and take turns driving to see one another. Sometimes we would make the drive multiple times in a single week. Harrison even got stranded in a hurricane trying to sneak some time with Destiny on a work night, but we’ll that story and more like it for the reception.
Our Ceremony
As our country is in the midst of a global pandemic we decided that it would be best to keep the wedding ceremony as small as possible. We understand that the timing is unfortunate as we would have loved to have you here to celebrate this momentous occasion with us. After careful thought, we decided that the responsible decision was to only invite immediate family and keep the bridal party to a minimum.
Although you may not have been invited to attend the physical wedding ceremony you have been invited to attend the Livestream virtually. Let's be honest with each other, this is so much more convenient anyway. The ceremony is usually super boring and you're just sitting there waiting for it to be over so you can party at the reception. That being said, we are planning on having an official reception after the pandemic is over. You can bet you'll be invited to that! We can't wait to see you! So let's keep our fingers crossed these vaccines get out there ASAP so we can all celebrate this event together.
This is not a typical wedding but these are not typical times. We're just going with the flow. However, there is one constant in all of this and that is our love and devotion to each other. We're not going to let a pandemic get in our way! Joining the Livestream has never been easier just follow the 4 instructions.
